Argetsinger: It's a harder job than any serious news beat I've ever had—and yet it's ridiculously fun. I sometimes sit at my desk laughing because I can't believe this is what I do for a living.
Roberts: Shhhh! Don't tell them that... It's very, very, very hard.
Is gathering gossip an art form or just plain, old-fashioned reporting?
Roberts: It's a God-given talent.
Do you have a code of principles to write by?
Argetsinger: A code? You know omerta, the code of silence? Basically the opposite of that.
How do you handle a co-authored column?
Argetsinger: You mean, besides the hair-pulling catfights and whining behind each other's back to editors? Pretty well, we think.
Roberts: We flip a coin, and whoever wins gets to watch The View and eat bonbons all day.
Have you ever fought over an item?
Both: We are happy to report that we have never, ever fought, not once in our happy and productive relationship of 14 weeks.
